About me: EMDR, IFS, Somatic work

Welcome to Therapy in Colorado

Hi, I’m Naomi, a trauma therapist in Colorado. I’m certified in EMDR and love incorporating Internal Family Systems, somatic, attachment and nervous system work into sessions. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I’ve been providing therapy for over 20 years and I know what it’s like to be on the other side. I’ve experienced how EMDR can help with past traumas, heal attachment wounds, infidelity, parenting and more. I’ve worked with my own parts through IFS, somatic and nervous system work and I’d love to help you. Our journey to a happier, more meaningful life begins with the simple hope that things can get better and it’s powered by the courage to take that first step. I’m here to walk that path alongside you with compassion, nurture and even laughter.

There is hope, even when your brain and body tells you there isn’t.  Together, we’ll create a secure and welcoming haven where you can bring your whole self.  With a blend of curiosity and compassion, we’ll explore the barriers that may be preventing you from living the life you desire. We will uncover the strategies and coping tools you’ve been using and evaluate if they are still working well in the present.  If you think your enneagram is predicting your every move or your attachment wounds and old patterns are a done deal, I’m here to let you know we can work with all of them.

What can I help with?

If you’ve been laying awake at night in Colorado and ruminating about things such as social interactions, parenting, relationships, incidents in your past, worries about the future, or what you have said or done, your enneagram number or looking at past partners and cringing or wondering about a huge decision, your people pleasing or freeze response,  therapy can help! If everyone around you sees a high functioning person who is doing all of the self care, yoga, meditation, exercising, socializing and yet inside you’re feeling exhausted, frustrated, anxious, depressed or keep doing things in ways you would like to change, together we can uncover the why and start working towards the changes you want to make.

Who Am I?

I am an inclusive, social justice oriented and LGBTQ2IA+ affirming Colorado therapist. I moved to Colorado for graduate school and like many others, fell in love with the mountains and sunshine and love to hike and garden and volunteer with animals. I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Social Work with a focus on Families and Adults and Certification in Trauma from the University of Denver. My work with veterans in the outpatient mental health clinic at the VA hospital along with my prior work with women who have experienced intimate partner violence have shown me how the work we do in therapy can bring someone from a place of surviving to a joy filled life.

I love to support clients by unlocking the barriers that may be getting in the way of living the life they want by using a variety of modalities. I am a certified Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) provider who also adores Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Work, Nervous System Informed Trauma Therapy, and practice from Attachment and Neurobiological lenses. I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Ego State and Parts Work, and mindfulness. I am also certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). As a therapist who loves helping people heal from trauma, anxiety, and depression, I’d love to tell you more about how these modalities create long lasting and deep changes.

Check out my blogs or my instagram page for more about the types of therapy we might do or some tips. I’ve even contributed to magazines such as Real Simple. Read the  latest here: https://www.realsimple.com/self-soothing-strategies-11950230
